Spring and early summer seems to make the mourning doves around here do stupid things, like flying full bore into windows. Has to do with the mating season probably. We had four bird strikes, two of them at the same time. The first picture is a single strike. The second shows all four, and the third is a closeup of the second. In one case, the bird lay dazed beneath the window for some time while I contemplated putting it out of its misery, but eventually it flew away. We practically end up on the floor ourselves each time it happens. You might suspect that the window was too clean, but if you look closely you can see all kinds of bug strikes as well. We used to enjoy the mournful coo of these doves, but we're becoming a little irritated by them, especially in the spring.
